Overview: Guadalupe Island from the bridge

Special Note: Due to safety concerns about land travel in Mexico and new U.S Coast Guard regulations allowing U.S. flagged vessels to enter Mexican ports, we will now be departing direct from San Diego by boat.

Typical Trip Schedule:

Evening prior to day 1: Trip begins with a 10pm departure from San Diego traveling overnight for a morning Customs/Immigration check-in into the Mexican port of Ensenada.

Day 1: 8am Customs/Immigration appointment in Ensenada, Mx. 10am departure for overnight voyage to Isla Guadalupe.
Day 2: 6am arrival Guadalupe Island, Full day of shark cage diving
Day 3: Full day shark cage diving
Day 4: Full day of shark cage diving, 4pm depart
Day 5: At sea, 2 pm arrival Ensenada, 7pm arrival San Diego

Daily Cage Dive Rotations/Schedule:
Floating shark cage #1: Four divers, hourly rotations
Floating shark cage #2: Four divers, hourly rotations
Submersible shark cage: One diver plus Divemaster, 30 min. rotations

Daily Meal Schedule:
Each and every four-star meal is made from scratch and prepared by our professional chef. Long days of cage diving with Great White Sharks produce hearty appetites and Islander’s Galley staff are always up to the task of satiating every palate!
Spaghetti Lunch
7:00am Breakfast
9:30am: Fresh baked Mid-morning snack
12-1pm: Lunch
4:00pm: Hors D’oeuvres
7:00pm: Dinner
Additionally, snacks including fresh fruit, chips and nuts available throughout the day

Detailed Itinerary:

Evening Prior to day 1: Guests board Islander 8pm, stow luggage, meet the crew and fellow sharkdivers, attend a pre-departure vessel safety meeting then depart for Ensenada at 10pm.

DAY 1 - Travel Day

Guadalupe Island, the worlds best location to dive with Great White Sharks, lies a considerable distance from San Diego (220 miles). For this reason our entire first day is dedicated to travelling. 8pm Guests sign in and stow luggage in below deck staterooms.

  • Breakfast aboard Islander. 8am customs/immigration appointment in Ensenada.
  • Guadalupe Island's south end10 am: Islander departs Ensenada bound for Guadalupe Island. At this time a comprehensive safety seminar and brief overview of the trip are given in the galley by the Captain and Divemaster.
  • 12 pm: Lunch is served in the galley. Following lunch we will have an in- depth seminar on Great White Shark Cage diving procedures, safety in the water and what to expect during our stay at Guadalupe Island. The remainder of the day is spent with other guests and crew learning fascinating facts and details about Great White Sharks.
  • 3-4 pm: Hors d'oevres are served.
  • 6 pm: Dinner is served in the galley. Movies and books are available the rest o fthe evening.


DAY 2 - Full Day of Cage Diving

  • 6 am: Islander arrives at Guadalupe Island. At this time conditions are assessed and the best location is chosen for our shark dive operations to begin. Our White Shark Cages are deployed and dive rotations begin. Provided Great White Sharks are present, the remainder of the day is spent Great White shark viewing them from both above and below the water. In the rare event White Sharks are not present at our particular location, it may be necessary to move to an alternate dive site.
  • 7 am: Hot breakfast is served in the galley.
  • 10 am: Mid-morning snack is served
  • 12 pm: Lunch is served in the galley. Shark Dive rotations continue.
  • 3-4 pm: Hors d'oeuvres are served.
  • 7pm: Dinner is served in the galley. After an incredible day of cage diving, beer and wine flow freely while guests view each others photos from the day.

  • 7am: Shark diving operations will resume and continue until dark.
  • 7 am: Breakfast is served in the galley.
  • 9-10 am: Midmorning snack is served
  • 12 pm: Lunch is served in the galley. Shark Dive rotations continue.
  • 3-4 pm: Hors d'oeuvres are served.
  • 7 pm: Dinner is served in the galley.

DAY 4 - Full Day of Diving

  • 6 am: Shark dive operations resume
  • 7 am: Breakfast is served in the galley.
  • 9-10 am: Midmorning snack is served
  • 12 pm: Lunch is served in the galley. Shark Dive rotations continue.
  • 3pm Islander departs Guadalupe Island
  • 3-4 pm: Hors d'oeuvres are served.
  • 5 pm: Dinner is served in the galley.

Guadalupe White Shark on the prowlDAY 5 - Travel Day/Arrival

Day five is a lazy day that's great for just putting your feet up and really relaxing before our arrival in San Diego. Shark divers will wake up to Belgian Waffles and a movie marathon in the galley. The last day of travel is also the ideal time to reflect on your experience at Guadalupe Island by sharing Great White Shark photos and relaxing before our arrival in San Diego.

  • 8 am: Breakfast is served in the galley.
  • 9-10 am: Midmorning snack is served
  • 1 pm: Lunch is served in the galley.
  • 7 pm: Arrival in San Diego
