With almost 30 years of dive experience in Southern California and Baja, Islander owners have the experience to ensure success and safety on each trip.
Islander carries three shark cages on all voyages. We offer two large, fixed cages which comfortably accommodate four shark divers each, as well as a smaller submersible cage. Our two large shark cages float at the surface and hookah hoses safely supply air to divers. Certification is not required in the two fixed cages as all air is surface supplied. The submersible cage requires scuba so it is reserved for certified divers only. Although we do encourage divers to come armed with some degree of dive knowledge it is not mandatory to go diving with sharks at Guadalupe Island. Both cage systems offer an amazing look into the world of the Great White Shark and both provide jaw dropping results.
To enhance your Great White Shark trip, Islander has proudly employed dive instructor, Luke Tipple for the past four years. Luke’s numerous certifications and worldwide dive experience are a perfect fit with Islander Charters as is his keen drive for perfection.
Countless hours monitoring sharks and divers from the Islander’s back deck have made Luke a valuable source of information for film crews, news productions and weekly shows alike. He has been featured on Discovery Channel’s Shark Week and appeared on Myth Busters, and various California news stations just to name a few. Additionally, each Islander crew member has been meticulously trained in all areas of diving with Great White Sharks – that’s the reason we’re one operation that can boast a 100% safety record with zero cage incidents as well as a 100% success rate when it comes to finding and viewing Guadalupe Island's White Sharks.
