As exposed as it is, weather is often a factor when diving at San Nicolas. Regardless, San Nicolas is home to Begg Rock, one of Southern California's finest dive sites.
Located 8 miles west of San Nicolas and rising 15 feet above the water, this sheer rock offers many spectacular vistas. Rock Scallops are in great abundance here -many the size of a dinner plate. Choose carefully as the limit is ten per diver. Anemones are all over the rock ranging in color from white to hot pink as are star fish and various molluscs. This dive is for experienced divers and can only be made when weather permits.
