Because of its remote location, San Miguel Island is a favorite for the adventurous diver. The island lies 26 miles south of Point conception and as a result can be the most challenging in terms
of weather. However, for those up to the task San Miguel offers many rewards. Because of it's far west location, currents and upwellings deliver plenty of cold, nutrient rich water resulting in a rich array of marine life.
San Miguel's beaches adjacent waters are home to six different species of mammals, including Elephant seals. Nudibranchs are a common site here as are purple ringed topshells – one of the most beautiful on California's coast
