Islander Charters: Captains reports and current news

Guadalupe Island Great White Shark Diving Trip, 11/15/09

We were forced out of the North Bay by wind again last night but retunred pre-dawn to find workable conditions.  Guadalupe Island is best described in one word - dramatic.  From the intense geologic extremities to the abundance of life in the water this island is truly remarkable.  That same remarkability accounts for the dramatic shifts in conditions which we sometimes encounter here as well.  Fortunately, by 9am we had absolutely flat calm weather as we watched the ocean completely lay down.  The down side is that our white shark viewing was fairly slow.  We had two different sharks around the cages for the latter part of the day but they spent the majority oftheir time belwo 20 feet.  Fortunately memories and photos of Great White Sharks from yesterday have filled in the voids.

We departed Guadalupe Island at 5pm and plan on being in Ensenada by 2pm tomorrow.
